An evening dedicated to celebrating one of the 20th century's most renowned and influential composers, Igor Stravinksy.
The performance features Stravinsky’s legendary fable, "L' Histoire du Soldat", a theatrical work to read and played. The libretto which is based on a Russian folk tale, was written by the Swiss universalist writer C. F. Ramuz. It is a parable about a soldier who trades his fiddle to the devil for a book that predicts the future of the economy. The music is scored for a septet of violin, double bass, clarinet, bassoon, trumpet, trombone, and percussion, and the story is told by a narrator. The program will also include Ballade for violin and piano, Three Pieces for Clarinet, Duet for Two Bassoons, and the Pastoral.
Tickets $15 general. $12 students, seniors 65 yrs,
IA Course participants, children (under 12 yrs free).
