Sonnets at Revelations

Attention poetry and literature lovers: the Candlelight Reading Series presents a lyrical and passionate program of sonnets on Saturday, April 18, 2009, 8:00 p.m. at Revelations.

The sonnet form originated in Italy in the 13th century and over time spread to other countries to develop particularly in England.  There are many types of sonnets.  The main ones are the Italian or Petrarchan, Spenserian, Shakespearean and American sonnets, each showing particular characteristics.

The readers, Kirti Wood, Raven Garland, and Freddy Niagara Fonseca have selected a fine collection from the bonanza of sonnets in world poetry.  Special guest Terry Bauer will give a brief intro on the history of the sonnet. Please come on time.
