Summer Poems in Central Park
Summer Poems in Central Park, Thursday, July 7th, 2005, at 8 PM
Performance poetry in Central Park is becoming a summer tradition in Fairfield. After the two successful readings of "The Night Poetry Dances" last year in the main square, the Candlelight Reading Series founded by Freddy Niagara Fonseca continues this trend with Summer Poems in Central Park on Thursday, July 7, at 8 PM.
Among the many cultural and fun offerings in our town, this yearly poetry festival is to occupy a unique place in the hearts of lovers of the well spoken word penned by great poets. Hearing poetry recited outdoors, surrounded by a balmy evening breeze and atmospheric lighting is like being part of a spontaneous, creative event. "How great will it be to feel the loving presence of summer holding us while listening to its many expressions in poetry," Freddy says.
Featured local readers/poets Sharalyn Harris, Megan Robinson, story teller Tracy Chipman who will also regale us with one of her delightful stories, Jimmy Moore, Jim Claitor and Freddy Niagara Fonseca will be celebrating summer (and also spring!) with selections of mostly light poetry from all over, including their own.
There will be a sound system and lights on both sides of the performance space. Although there will be plenty of seats, feel free to bring your lawn chair if you like. The event will be held on the grass in the northwest section of Central Park facing northwest. Everyone is invited.
