Shakespearean sonnets and scenes from Romeo and Juliet with Elizabethan music and dance, presented as a benefit for the Iowa Conservatory Theatre by the Candlelight Reading Series are being held over one more night on Saturday, April 2, 2005 at 8 PM at the Iowa Conservatory Theater, 1900 West Stone in Fairfield.
Actors Morgan Lee and Lucia Rich will be portraying Romeo and Juliet. Shana Cordon will play Mercutio, and Kendall Wells will play Tybalt, as well as choreograph the staged fight scenes. Scenes directed by Jennie Lee who will also play the part of the nurse.
Elizabethan dancers in costume: Caree & John Connet, Terry Smith, Jolynn Tolson, Susie Niedermeyer, Thomas, Ulrike & Girindra Selleck.
Ulrike Selleck, mezzo soprano, will be accompanied by Susie Niedermeyer on piano.
Freddy Niagara Fonseca, Candlelight Reading Series founder, and Jennie Lee will be reciting a number of Shakespearean sonnets evoking an engaging blend of stage, dance, poetry and music.
Minimum donation of $8 at the door, and all proceeds go to support the Iowa Conservatory Theatre. This event was very well received two weeks ago. This is one more great opportunity to immerse yourself in the abundant gifts of Shakespeare, while helping to keep a beautiful Fairfield theatre alive. Please come and enjoy!
