An Evening of Night Poems
An Evening of Night Poems, Tuesday, December 21, 2004, 8 PM at Revelations, downstairs
Night poems have always been popular with poets and readers alike. Could it be because of the contrast between the forces of light and dark? Take Poe's famous poem The Raven for instance. Everybody knows it, but really there are many more night poems that deserve to be heard.
On Tuesday, December 21 at 8 PM, the first day of winter and one of the darkest days of the year, poet Freddy Niagara Fonseca will share with Fairfield An Evening of Night Poems American Poetry on the Theme of Night at Revelations, downstairs.
At this candlelit event, Freddy will be reading from a selection of American night poems. If anyone wants to read an all-time favorite night poem, please contact Freddy. There will be a reception with refreshments after the reading. Free admission. Donations welcome.
This reading is the first in a newly created Candlelight Reading Series aiming at bringing together performers in many exciting combinations. Freddy will be regularly hosting musicians, poets, song writers, story tellers, mime artists, dancers, actors, comedians and in several cases encourage audience participation. Classical as well as contemporary poetry will be performed, offering much variety in format, content, dynamics, and range of artists. There will be a reading every month. Warmly recommended. For info, call Freddy at 641-472-7634.
